Lab Switch Policy

  • If you are enrolled in a section, DO NOT crash another section to obtain an approval code.
  • If on GOLD you see a space available in the section you would like to switch into, you can change sections by selecting the “Switch” button. Do not drop your current section as you will lose your space in the course.
  • If you are unable to switch sections before the quarter begins, you can find another student to switch sections with you. Once you find someone, you each will need to complete an electronic Lab Switch Form.

Please note the following instructions for the lab switch form:

  • BOTH you AND the person you are switching with will each need to complete this form. In other words, Two people switching = Two forms submitted.
    • Until we receive both submissions, your request will not be accepted.
    • If the switch is approved, please allow up to 1 business day for a change to occur to your class schedule.
    • You are only allowed one switch. You cannot switch twice with two different students.
    • Once the form closes, no switches will be permitted after that time.

**Students are prohibited from switching ORGANIC labs once the first experiment has been completed.

Enrollment and Waitlist Policies

To be fair to all students, enrollment is handled exclusively through GOLD, on a first-come, first-serve basis

We are unable to assist students in getting back into courses they accidentally dropped or were dropped from due to attendance or billing/collection issues. Do not contact the instructor, teaching assistant, or undergraduate advising staff for an approval code. Please refer to the Registrar’s website for more information regarding waitlist policies (click here).

Students are highly recommended to add their major courses during their first registration pass time.

Prerequisite - Prerequisites are strictly enforced. Most Chemistry courses build upon prerequisite or preparatory course work. Students who have not successfully completed the prerequisites for a course will not be allowed to register.

  • Specific course prerequisite information can be found on GOLD or in the UCSB Catalog
